Solent Coastguard Visit - only a few places left - hurry.... 
20.00 to 22.00 on Wednesday 23 May
See what the Coastguard does and how they help us. Meet the people behind the VHF. Understand what happens when we call them and learn what we can do better. Visit will include presentation by Coastguard with Q&A, a tour of the emergency planning room with demonstration of the equipment and then to the actual operations room (operations permitting).
A fascinating opportunity and valuable if you go sailing. Limited to 12 people per visit. No visits in the summer as the Coastguard has too much going on so this is last opportunity until next winter.

Berthing Practice Day 30 May 2012
Next Sailing Practice Day for 2012. Focus will be on close quarter manoeuvres - berthing the boat.
We can have up to 5 people and minumum 3 so price per person will range between £100 and £165.
Start from Lymington 9am with berthing practice, sail to Yarmouth for lunch returning to Lymington with more berthing practice, finishing at 4.30.
I do need to know numbers for this event to work so please get in touch. Only when you confirm will I ask for payment via PayPal.

RYA Day Skipper & Competent Crew Course June or July 5 Days 
5 day Day Skipper/Competent Crew course planned for either 4-8 June or 9-13 July. Last 2 courses have been great fun and extremely satisfying as people turned up nervous but left having learnt so much. I aim that we learn in a fun way - Sailing is a great hobby and you can do it. Will only be running one course - whichever is most popular of June or July dates. Next course will be September or October.
It is great for friends to do the course together so feel free to get your own group together.
You should have done your Day Skipper Theory but please talk to me regardless. I am keen to hear from anyone remotely interested.

J Class Regatta 20 July on Yacht or RIB 
Solent is the home of the J Class Regatta and these magnificant 140' classic racing yachts return this year. This will be a truly spectacular sight - quite breathtaking. Take a look at the web site and videos. This is the ultimate in classic yacht racing and it is fantastic that the J Class is in back in the Solent!
I am planning to take a boat out on Friday 20 July to see the action as close as suitable. Want to join us for a fun and exciting day? Treat someone special - great birthday present!
Cost to be determined but between £150 and £200 per person per day. Cost depends on numbers and which boat so let me know if you might be interested. The cost will include light lunch on board and soft drinks.
There are actually 3 races over 18 - 21 July. I think this could be better than the Olympics or even Cowes week to spectate.
The J Class plan is one day racing in the Western Solent, one day Eastern Solent and one day Central Solent. We will do our best to get as close as we can but if it is Eastern Solent we will ask you to arrive earlier so we can get to them.
You can charter a complete yacht (contact me for price), one or more places or you could go on the RIB. Places on RIB £200 per person.

Sailing is one of GB's strongest Olympic sports and 2012 will be exciting. Opportunity to see some competitive pre Olympic racing - 'Sail for Gold' Event 4-9 June and then to be in the main Olympics 28 July - 11 August. Not tickets - just an opportunity to be out on the water from Weymouth during the Olympics. Imagine the atmosphere.
Available for a whole boat booking or places for individuals if there is sufficient interest. Either an Arcona 37' or a Jenneau Sun Oddessy 44DS.
Individual places on the Arcona cost £215. Whole boat available for charter at £1150. Food additional. She is berthed in North Quay Marina, Weymouth - prefect for getting out to see the racing. I won't be the skipper on this yacht.

Cowes Week August 2012 
Cowes Week racing started in 1826 and with 1000 boats is now the worlds largest regatta of its kind. It is incredibly exciting to be part of it.
Possibile to charter a whole boat or to book a berth individually. Cowes Week 2012 from 11 to 18 August - delayed to avoid clashing with the Olympics. Specific dates and prices for this spectator event to be confirmed. Not likely to exceed £175 per person.

Bestival
2011 Bestival now over. A wet and windy weekend but we had 2 boats of guys who enjoyed the combination of sailing and Bestival. Great way to have access to the festival. How about the 2012 Festival?

Chance to practice your sailing skills in a fun and flexible environment. Berthing, MOB, Anchoring, picking up mooring buoys, heaving to. Not a formal course - just chance to practice various sailing techniques. Perhaps just to enjoy a day on the water. Yacht Racing 
Entered the Hamble Winter Series last year and invited individuals to sign up for one or more races. Made them into practice weekends where individuals could learn racing techniques and spinnaker handling. This improves your general sailing and knowledge. Had great fun whilst training.
Will enter more regattas and races subject to demand. Get in touch to register interest.

Round The Island Race 
The biggest yacht race in the world - and 2012 already fully booked! Almost impossible to find a charter boat on the Solent for 2012. So start thinking for 2013!
2011 was a record year with 1908 boats entered (1305 finished). The weather made it a very exciting and eventful race. Typical format for this very special weekend is …..
Join the boat Friday afternoon, sail to Cowes, and spend overnight on a mooring outside Cowes. Race starts early Saturday morning (around 6am). Dinner at your own expense in Cowes Saturday evening as is the cost of any water taxis to go ashore in Cowes. Spend Saturday again on a mooring buoy or pontoon outside Cowes - returning to Lymington Sunday morning.

Teaching RYA Day Skipper and Competent Crew Courses throughout the year but mostly early and late season. Also teach theory. Can organise Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster courses through RYA accredited school.
